Cristiano Ronaldo dedicates Real Madrid goals to Eusebio
Cristiano Ronaldo dedicated his two goals in
Real Madrid's 3-0 win
over Celta Vigo to Portgual legend Eusebio.
A minute's silence was held at Real's Bernabeu stadium before kick-off in memory of Eusebio,
who died aged 71
from a heart attack at the weekend.
Ronaldo said: "I dedicate these two goals to you Eusebio but in fact you were the one who scored them. You'll always be in my heart.
"We have lost one of the greatest players of all time."
A video tribute was displayed on the scoreboard at the Bernabeu as a minute's silence was impeccably observed.
After scoring Real Madrid's second against Celta Vigo, Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated by pointing towards the sky.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a second late on, taking his career
total to 400 goals. Eusebio scored 733 goals over the course of his
career and Ronaldo described him after Monday's game as "an example for
us".
Earlier on Monday, fans in
Portugal paid tribute to Eusebio at Benfica's Luz stadium, decroating a
statue of him with scarves and Benfica shirts.
Tens of thousands of people paid final homage to Eusebio as his coffin was displayed at Benfica's Luz stadium before his burial.
